Today being Thanksgiving and all I'd like to take the time to talk a little about the things I am grateful for today. Through the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous I have learned to cherish the most simple things in my life. "I once complained about the holes in my shoes, when I met a man with no feet" is what one of my sponsors used to tell me when I would complain about the high quality problems aa has given me today. I would complain about things like:
Then: When I turn the faucet on the water would spray me more than the object getting washed
Now: I have a faucet with running water.
Then: My Mailbox got knocked over:
Now: I have a mailbox and actually care about getting my bills
Then: Gas prices are getting outa control
Now: Whats that? I have a car and a legal drivers license.. lol
Then: My shower knob leaks and my water bill is high
Now: I can take a shower in something beside a park fountain or public restroom.
Then: Arg... I hate this job!
Now: I'm grateful to be a functioning member of society with a job.
Then: My electric bill is $300 in February
Now: Grateful to have a warm bed to sleep in instead of the back seat of my truck
Then: Why does God keep punishing me?
Now: Grateful for God showing me strength and courage.
You see it's the smallest things in life that I always take for granted if I forget to keep God first. I almost got irritated today when my phone kept vibrating during a meeting, and then I quickly realized that I have a phone today and people actually care about me. Today life is good, and as long as I always work the program, it will ALWAYS work. Thanks for everything.
